Trump Believes Ukraine Can Regain Its Territory With Help From The EU

Trump Comments on Ukraine’s Potential Victory

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump expressed his views regarding Ukraine’s prospects in the ongoing conflict, suggesting that the country believes it can achieve victory with assistance from the European Union and NATO.

While attending the UN General Assembly in New York, Trump stated that he sees potential for Ukraine to win. He didn’t hold back in his criticism of Russia, referring to its efforts as an “aimless fight” and calling the nation a “paper tiger.”

“Having assessed the military and economic conditions in Ukraine and Russia, I think Ukraine stands a solid chance to reclaim its territory, especially with the backing of the European Union,” Trump remarked.

His comments marked a shift in focus as he acknowledged Ukraine’s possible success in the war.

Trump continued, “Russia has been embroiled in a war for over three years. It’s not a quick victory that showcases military strength—it has the opposite effect. It basically labels Russia as a ‘paper tiger.'”

He highlighted the hardships faced by the Russian population, mentioning the difficulties in accessing gasoline and the economic strain caused by the war. “Once people in Moscow and cities across Russia understand what is really happening, the impact will be significant,” he added.

Trump also warned that “Putin and Russia are grappling with serious economic challenges,” urging for action from Ukraine.

In his closing remarks, he conveyed goodwill to both nations, mentioning, “We will keep supplying arms to NATO as per their needs. Best of luck to all!”

Following his post, Trump met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in New York. This meeting came after his earlier discussions with Putin in Alaska about a potential peace agreement, although further talks have ensued since. Zelensky declined a proposal from Putin for a meeting in Moscow on September 5, countering with invitations to host Russian leaders in Ukraine.
