Trump calls on Alabama lawmakers to ensure IVF availability – ‘I strongly support’

Former President Donald Trump today joined a growing chorus of conservative leaders in response to the Alabama Supreme Court's recent decision to classify frozen embryos as children. As a result of this surprise ruling, at least three clinics in Alabama have already stopped offering IVF treatment. UAB Health System, the state's largest hospital, also began restricting IVF-related services.

“Under my leadership, the Republican Party will always help build strong, prosperous and healthy American families,” President Trump said on Truth Social. “We want to make it easier for mothers and fathers to have babies, not harder.”

President Trump said that means supporting the availability of treatments such as in vitro fertilization.

“This includes supporting access to infertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization in every state in America. Like most Americans, I strongly support the availability of IVF for couples looking to have a precious baby.”

The 2024 Republican front-runner then intervened and asked the Alabama Legislature to save IVF treatments in the state.

“Today, I call on the Alabama Legislature to act quickly to find immediate solutions to preserve the availability of IVF in Alabama. Republicans have always been on the side of the miracle of life, and We should stand by mothers, fathers and beautiful babies.”

“IVF is an important part of that, and our great Republican Party will always stand by you in your quest for the ultimate life.”

Lawmakers in the state House and Senate introduced legislation earlier this week that would help protect IVF services.
