Trump Clobbers Kamala Harris With Independents In Head-To-Head Matchup, Poll Reveals

Former President Donald Trump is leading among independents in a head-to-head race against Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a poll released Thursday.

Democratic lawmakers, politicians and donors endorsed Harris on Sunday after President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race. The president released the letter on X, saying that while he intends to seek reelection, he believes it's best for the country and the party to focus on the remainder of his term.

Among independents, Trump has a 20-point lead over Harris, with 53% supporting him, 33% supporting her, 9% for the other candidates and 4% undecided. according to From the Rasmussen Report. The survey was conducted July 22-23 among 1,074 U.S. voters with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points, according to Rasmussen Reports.

“We have polled Harris more than most pollsters, so this is not a surprise to us, and it's consistent with previous Biden vs. Trump polls: Harris is not outperforming Biden,” Rasmussen said in a Thursday post on X.

Additionally, the Rasmussen national poll shows Trump holding a large lead over Harris, with the former president's approval rating at 50%, Harris at 43%, other candidates at 4% and 3% undecided, the data showed.

The new poll comes after Harris confirmed the number of delegates she needs to be considered the party's presidential nominee ahead of the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in August.
