Trump Inspects Future Ballroom on White House Roof
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump demonstrated his tendency to engage in inquiries from just about anywhere, including the rooftop of the White House.
As Trump walked across the roof to check on the site for a new ballroom, he mentioned, “We were looking for more ways to do it,” referring to funding for the country. During this time, reporters were eager to know the reason for his roof stroll.
One reporter boldly asked, “President, what are you doing there?”
“Just taking a short walk,” Trump responded, before revealing, “I’m going to look at the ballroom on the other side.”
Interestingly, the White House claims Trump is “the most transparent in history,” yet his responses to questions from various media outlets took some time.
On his first day back for a second term, Trump fielded significantly more questions than former President Joe Biden did during his initial week. Biden managed only six questions from January 20 to January 26, 2021, whereas Trump talked to reporters for about 48 minutes, generating 75 questions and follow-ups on January 20, 2025.
In Biden’s first three months in office, he faced 51 questions and interacted with the press a total of 164 times within his first year. During his first term, Trump held nine cabinet meetings and had nearly a year without one until September 2024.
White House aides often shielded Biden from the media, preparing beforehand for any potential questions from reporters.
On July 31, the White House revealed plans for a new 90,000-square-foot ballroom, designed to accommodate 650 guests. This venue will be situated where the East wing is currently located and will feature arched windows and an impressive chandelier.
