Trump DHS Chucks Two Biden-Era Immigration Policies Into Dustbin

The Trump administration on Tuesday rescinded two major immigration policies from the Biden administration, further cementing the White House’s dedication to tougher enforcement policies.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a directive It would rescind the Biden administration’s guidelines on so-called “sensitive locations” where Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers are prohibited from conducting enforcement activities. The administration also announced that it would end the “widespread use” of humanitarian parole and return it to a case-by-case basis. The Trump administration praised the move as a step away from the previous White House’s softer approach to enforcement.

“This action empowers brave men and women. [Customs and Border Protection] “And ICE is committed to enforcing our immigration laws and apprehending criminal aliens who enter our country illegally, including murderers and rapists,” a DHS spokesperson said of the sensitive area cancellation. “Criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to avoid arrest.”

“The Trump Administration will not tie the hands of our nation’s brave law enforcement, instead trusting them to use common sense,” the spokesperson continued.

Ann ICE memo In October 2011, “sensitive places” were introduced, banning most ICE agents from entering schools, hospitals, and churches. However, this list unbelievably expanded Under the Biden administration, the law covers a wide range of social services and public spaces, limiting the scope of what ICE agents can do.

The second order announced Tuesday includes phasing out the parole program that allowed immigrants to enter the country en masse and work in the United States under the Biden administration. Republicans have long criticized parole programs such as the CHNV program, saying they are rife with fraud and allow hundreds of thousands of immigrants to enter the United States from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela.

“The Biden-Harris Administration abused the Humanitarian Parole Program to indiscriminately admit 1.5 million immigrants into our country,” a DHS spokesperson said. “This all stopped on the first day of the Trump administration.”

“This action returns the Humanitarian Parole Program to its original purpose of considering immigrants on a case-by-case basis,” the spokesperson continued.

The two directives were issued by Benjamin Huffman, acting DHS secretary. If approved, South Dakota’s Republican governor, Kristi Noem, would take control of the department.

President Donald Trump issued a series of executive orders on his first day in office, declaring a national emergency at the border, designating cartels as terrorist organizations, and extending the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution for individuals born on U.S. soil by illegal immigrants. They tried to reinterpret it as denying birthright citizenship. immigrant parents.
