Trump Instills Confidence in People Like We Haven’t Seen in Ten Years, Says Victor Davis Hanson

Trump’s Leadership Style Highlighted by Hanson

Victor Davis Hanson shared with Fox News on Monday that he believes President Donald Trump embodies a distinct sense of American self-assurance that seems largely absent from today’s political climate.

Former MSNBC host Chris Matthews remarked that he doesn’t subscribe to negative polls about Trump, asserting that many voters see him as a strong leader, and, in his view, the country is aligning more with Trump’s direction. On “Ingraham’s Angle,” Hanson echoed this sentiment, suggesting that Trump’s commanding presence resonates strongly with Americans who crave decisive leadership.

“Chris Matthews had a valid point,” Hanson noted. “Donald Trump is this dynamic, adventurous figure that truly reflects American confidence.”

Hanson contrasted Trump with former President Joe Biden, pointing out instances where Biden appears disoriented.

“When Joe Biden seems lost or is struggling to articulate his thoughts, it’s evident,” Hanson commented.

He emphasized that Trump exudes a type of leadership not often seen in contemporary politics.

“People around Trump never feel the need to whisper doubts in his ear. They understand him. He’s unfiltered and willing to engage with journalists who openly oppose him. This authenticity gives people a sense of hope, highlighting a distinctly American spirit we haven’t witnessed in years,” Hanson expressed.

According to Gallup, Trump’s approval rating recently dropped to 37%, with only 29% support among independents. Pollster Matt Towery mentioned on Fox News that Trump’s actual approval numbers are likely higher than what media reports indicate.

In June, Trump’s approval soared to 47.5%, exceeding the standings of George W. Bush and Barack Obama during their second terms at similar points, with Bush at 45.9% and Obama at 47.1%, according to RealClear Politics.

This rise in approval ratings followed a 12.3-point increase in consumer confidence in May, marking the first upward shift in five months. Analysts attribute this surge to the momentum created after Trump secured a trade agreement with China on May 12, leading to more optimistic expectations around employment and revenue.
