Former President Donald Trump met with Laken Riley's family Saturday night at a campaign rally in Georgia.
Trump was photographed hugging the family of a slain nursing student before taking the stage in the Atlanta suburb of Rome. according to to the New York Post. Riley's body was found near a lake on the University of Georgia (UGA) campus in late February, apparently bludgeoned to death by an illegal immigrant.

The would-be Republican presidential nominee's campaign distributed posters of Riley's photo with phrases such as “Say her name” and “Remember our angels.” ABC News report.
President Trump on Thursday slammed President Joe Biden for incorrectly mentioning Riley's name in his 2024 State of the Union address, blaming the Democratic president's policies for Riley's murder. Biden referred to the deceased 22-year-old woman as “Lincoln” rather than Laken after Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene heckled her to “say her name.”
“He has no regrets, no remorse. He has no empathy,” President Trump said of Biden. “He has no compassion, and worst of all, he has no intention of stopping the deadly invasion that took the precious life of Mr. Laken's beautiful American.”

Alison Phillips, the late Riley's mother, criticized Biden in a Facebook comment. Biden on Saturday apologized for calling Riley's suspected killer an “illegal alien” in his State of the Union address, saying he should have used the word “illegal alien” instead. Biden told MSNBC's Jonathan Capehart that unlike Trump, he does not intend to “treat these people with contempt.”
