Israel and Iran reached a ceasefire in the war 12 days ago Monday, President Donald Trump said on social media.
The ceasefire will take effect in the middle of the night in the East, he said.
“There is a complete agreement between Israel and Iran, and there will be a complete and complete ceasefire… 12 hours at which time the war is considered and ends!” TrumpI wrote it. “Officially, Iran will begin a ceasefire, Israel will begin a ceasefire in 12 hours, and the official end of the 12-day war in 24 hours pays homage to the world.
“I would like to congratulate both countries Israel and Iran on ending their stamina, courage and intelligence, on the assumption that everything works as needed. “This is a war that has been going on for years, destroying the entire Middle East, but not and will never do so!”
Neither Israel nor Iran immediately confirmed an agreement to halt hostilities, but Iranian Foreign Minister Sei tweeted that the country’s troops had stopped the fight about three hours after Abbas Aragut.
“Our powerful military operations punished Israel for its attack and continued until the very last minute at 4am,” he wrote. “Along with all the Iranians, we are ready to defend our dear nation to the last drop of blood, and we are grateful to the brave army that responded to enemy attacks until the very end.”
There were no confirmations from Israel by Monday Eastern Time.
Trump’s announcement comes hours after Iran launched a missile at a US military base in Qatar in retaliation for a weekend strike at a nuclear facility. The missile was shot down without causing casualties, Trump wrote.
Iran warned US leaders before the strike, saying that in clear efforts to minimize casualties it was a signal of de-escalation that Trump appears to be ready to accept.
“Iran officially responded to the removal of their nuclear facilities with a very weak response we had hoped for, and very effectively rebutted,” Trump said.I wrote it on a Monday afternoon. “Fourteen missiles were fired. 13 were knocked down and one was heading in a threatless direction, so “released.” I’m happy to report that the Americans were not harmed.
“Most importantly, they got it all from their ‘systems’. And hopefully there’s no more hatred. I would like to thank you for notifying us early.
US House Speaker Mike Johnson said Iran was expected to fight back.
“This is an expected retaliation,” the Louisiana Republican told reporters at the Capitol.Videos posted on social media By CNN. “So far, it’s very good. There are no casualties.”
There are no DEMS briefings in advance
Despite Trump’s explanation of “elimination” of Iran’s nuclear facilities, it was unclear how the country’s nuclear program was damaged on Monday.US bombings of three major nuclear enrichment facilities On Saturday, U.S. House Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries said at a press conference Monday.
A New York Democrat said he had not been explained by the administration prior to the operation and only received a “civil call” from the White House, where strikes are imminent.
Classified briefings of the so-called eight gangs — Republican and Democratic floor leaders and top members of the Intelligence Email Committee for each Congress — are scheduled for Tuesday, he said.
“We have seen no evidence justifying the (regulation) offensive strike in Iran, and we don’t even know how effective the strike is,” Jeffries said. “There is zero evidence that I saw the nuclear program being completely wiped out, as Donald Trump claims. No evidence has been presented to Congress to suggest that it happened. Let’s see what happens at tomorrow’s classification briefing.”
Jeffries strongly opposed Trump’s intervention in the war between Iran and Israel without first supporting Congress.
However, he declined to question whether the decision was a perpetual crime or whether it supported a bipartisan resolution that would curb the power of a president who would be fighting the war in Iran.
“The use of military force that is inherently offensive must be approved by the House and Senate,” he said. “That’s according to the constitution. It’s not an option, Donald.”
Skills Solution
Jeffries said he “hasn’t seen” a resolution sponsored by Kentucky Republican Thomas Massey and California Democrat Locanna. With changes to rules based on the House GOP majority, consideration of solutions cannot be enforced immediately, he said.
MassyI said it on Monday The resolution had 57 conspirators in the house.
Johnson said he would not support the resolution.
“I don’t think it’s a good time to resolve the war power,” Johnson said. “And I don’t think it’s necessary.”
New York Democrats Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other members of the Jeffreys Caucus proposed to use each military force without approval from Congress.
Asked if Democrats would pursue a bluff each when he regained a majority in the 2026 midterm elections, Jeffries showed that it wasn’t his first step.
“The tool currently on the table is to continue to require the administration to present itself before the US Congress, and to assert the American people about why this extraordinary step was taken,” he said. “That’s Step 1. Step 2 is that the resolution of war powers is being discussed on the house floor, as was already supposed to happen. Then we can see where we are after that.”
