President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that Peter Navarro will return to his administration as senior adviser for trade and manufacturing.
Navarro served as a trade adviser in President Trump’s first administration. He previously served four months in federal prison after failing to respond to the committee’s Jan. 6 subpoena and instead invoking executive privilege to refuse to testify and provide documents to the committee. I refused. President Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday that Navarro had been “horribly treated by the deep state” and would help advance his agenda in a second administration.
“The position of Senior Advisor leverages Peter’s extensive policy analysis and media skills while leveraging his extensive White House experience. His mission is to successfully navigate President Trump’s manufacturing, tariffs, and trade agenda. to help promote and communicate,” Trump wrote.
“Peter is not only a distinguished Harvard-trained economist, he is also the renowned author of more than a dozen best-selling books on strategic management and unfair trade. He has done a great job for the American people, and as a senior advisor, Peter will do even more to protect American workers and truly make American manufacturing great again.” he continued.
