Trump Voters In New Hampshire Say They’re With Him Until The End, Indictments Be Damned

Rochester, New Hampshire — Multiple supporters of former President Donald Trump in New Hampshire told the Daily Caller News Foundation at a campaign event Sunday that they support his candidacy for the White House despite the charges against him.

The former president faces four criminal charges in his bid for a second term, some of which will go to trial ahead of a possible rematch with President Joe Biden in November. . Voters blasted the charges at a Trump campaign event in Rochester, New Hampshire, two days before voting in the nation's first primary election, telling DCNF they would support the former president regardless of his conviction.

“Oh, of course,” one woman, a Trump supporter, told DCNF when asked before the general election if she would continue to support the former president even if he was convicted. “I believe all charges are false.” (Related: Fulton County prosecutor coordinates with Jan. 6 commission before indicting Trump)

Event attendees Bill and Josh, who also support Trump as a presidential candidate, said they would support the former president no matter what.

“He can do anything. I'm voting for him,” Bill told the DCNF, adding that the charges were “sham indictments.”

“100%, all the time,” Josh said.

The couple, both Trump supporters, also said such a conviction would not change their minds.

“In any case, it doesn't matter,” the man told DCNF. “There seem to be two rules when it comes to what's going on with him and the Biden campaign.”

Brothers Philip and Derrick, who support the former president, also said there was nothing that would sway their vote.

“Them [indictments] “Just kidding, no one cares about that,” Philip told DCNF.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg handed down the first indictment in late March 2023, accusing the former president of falsifying business records while repaying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted Trump in early June on charges of mishandling classified documents. Two months later, Smith indicted the former president again, this time on charges of interference in the 2020 election and involvement in the January 6 Capitol riot.

Most recently, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis indicted Trump on charges of interfering in Georgia's 2020 election. Mr. Willis has since faced corruption allegations over possible misuse of public funds when he hired his alleged lover as special counsel in the Trump case.

Dennis, a New Hampshire voter who attended Trump events but has not yet decided who he will support in the primary, said he would vote for Trump over Biden even if he was convicted. He told DCNF that there is a high possibility that he will.

“I mean, you know what they say about the lesser of two evils?” Dennis said. “I don't know if the whole trial isn't in some way a witch hunt. I mean, I don't think Trump is a great human being, but I think he's been pretty maligned.”

The federal election interference trial is scheduled for March 4, and Bragg's case against Trump is scheduled for March 25. Mr. Smith's classified documents case is scheduled for trial on May 20th, and Mr. Willis has argued for an August 5th trial in the Georgia case.

Support for the former president in the Republican primary has only increased since the first charges were filed last year. according to compared to the RealClearPolitics average.
