Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly Breakdown Whether Harris Or Trump Benefits More If RFK Jr. Exits Race

SiriusXM's Megyn Kelly and Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson discussed Thursday why they believe independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s possible withdrawal from the presidential race could improve former President Donald Trump's chances of winning November's election.

Reports suggest Kennedy may drop out of the race and support Trump Surfaced This comes after Carlson's running mate, Nicole Shanahan, hinted on a podcast on Wednesday that she might “work with” the former president. Carlson told Kelly that if Kennedy continues on the campaign trail, it would be even more “hurt” for Trump because of “voter overlap.”

“But this is my only insight, and I believe it to be true. I don't know if he would actually support Trump. They're two big names, so I would believe it if it actually happened. But if it happened tomorrow, I think it would probably favor Trump. I'm not sure. But I do know that if Bobby runs as a third party, it would favor Trump because their voter bases overlap a lot,” Carlson said.

“Not on every issue. They disagree on a lot of issues. But if you think the current system is corrupt, you're not going to vote for Kamala Harris because she's the embodiment of corruption,” Carlson continued. “So you're going to vote for Bobby Kennedy or you're going to vote for Donald Trump. That's the bottom line. So I think it's definitely going to hurt Trump if he continues to run.”

Harris and the former president have been neck and neck in the polls in key battleground states since she became the Democratic presidential nominee in the past month, and Kerry continues to highlight Kennedy's influence in key swing states, including Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, where Kennedy, an independent, is leading the race by between 2 and 5 points. “So this guy may not have the votes he had six months ago, when he was around 11 percent, but he could really swing this election if the people who are preparing to vote for him do as he asks, which in this case is to vote for Trump,” Kelly said.

“I think that's true. There is a demographic in this country that makes sense in numbers: the non-liberal naturalists. The old-fashioned hippie types. Actually, not all of them are neoliberal. A lot of them still believe in civil liberties and they care about nature. They don't want to see it destroyed by chemicals,” Carlson added.

Carlson continued to criticize Harris' party's ties to big business such as banking and pharmaceutical companies, noting that both Trump and Kennedy supporters often view her ties unfavorably.

“They don't think Monsanto is necessarily a great company. And they look at Kamala Harris, who's not even a real person – I mean, it could be anybody,” Carlson continued, “but they look at this organization that's funded by banks and pharmaceutical companies and they think to themselves, 'I have nothing in common with these people.' And then they might look at Trump and think, 'Who is that guy? That's weird. I don't like him either.' But the reality is, there are a lot of right-wing hippies out there.”

“So I think they're all potential Trump supporters. There are stylistic issues that make them averse to Trump, but they're certainly not on BlackRock's side at all. I think Bobby Kennedy is a pretty good way for them to vote for Trump. He's credible to them, and for good reason,” Carlson said.

Recent National Opinion Polls carried out According to the Economist/YouGov poll, Harris has a three-point lead over Trump with 46% of the vote, compared with 43% for Trump and 3% for Kennedy.
