The Tucson Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies work with the governor’s Department of Highway Safety to enforce seat belt and child restraint laws.
With funding from GOHS, law enforcement agencies across Arizona will ramp up traffic enforcement patrols as part of Click-It or Ticket campaigns. The mobilization of the crackdown will run from May 22nd to June 4th, according to a news release.
Despite efforts to educate drivers about the importance of wearing seat belts, motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death and serious injury in the state. Wearing seatbelts is one of the most effective ways to protect people and reduce crash fatalities, and can reduce injuries and deaths by about 50%, according to a news release.
Properly installed booster seats also reduce the risk of death or serious injury to infants, toddlers and children, according to a news release.

The public can also attend car seat events on proper car seat installation by certified car seat technicians.
