An Iowa man and an Illinois woman are in Hancock County Jail after a methamphetamine-related arrest resulting from a traffic stop in Hancock County.
Hancock County Sheriff’s Department agents pulled a 1999 Gold Oldsmobile at 96, Illinois into traffic at 11:20 pm on Friday, February 10, for speeding.
West Burlington, Iowa driver Anthony L. Baker, 52, was found to have a revoked driver’s license and an arrest warrant in Henderson County. Quincy’s passenger, Shasta D. Schenk, 41, initially provided his lieutenant with a pseudonym. Schenck was found to have an arrest warrant in Adams County and a non-extradition warrant in Mojave County, Arizona.
The sheriff’s office dog was alerting the car. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a hypodermic syringe of suspected methamphetamine and a digital scale of suspected methamphetamine.
Baker and Schenck were arrested and transferred to Hancock County Jail.
Baker was charged with license revocation, expired registration, obstruction of justice, and a Henderson County warrant. Schenk was charged with possession of methamphetamine (less than 5 grams), possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction of justice, and possession of an Adams County warrant.
