‘Ugly Illicit Schemes’: Gregg Jarrett Says Those Who Targeted Trump Illegally Must Face Justice In Court And Publicly

Gregg Jarrett, a legal analyst for Fox News, said those who targeted President Donald Trump by attempting to push criminal charges against him through the Biden-Harris Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday evening should face justice publicly in court.

In a speech in the new DOJ for the second administration led by Attorney General Pam Bondy, Trump accused former President Joe Biden and former Attorney General Merrick Garland on Friday of “terrifying innocent people and rewarding the evil ones.” In “Hannity,” Fox News host Sean Hannity asked Jarrett if he believed Congress and the DOJ were “right” to investigate those who abused the president “to defeat it for political purposes.”

“Yeah, that’s definitely going to happen. We’re inevitably learning about the ug-ill illegal schemes used by the Justice Department and the FBI to target Donald Trump. You know, part of what we’ve learned over the past few days is that Biden’s aides at the White House were handing over Trump and Mike Pence’s phones,” Jarrett said.

According to Fox DigitalIn May 2022, the Biden White House handed over both Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence’s cell phones to the FBI as part of the Bureau’s investigation after the 2020 election. The agency didn’t need a warrant to physically obtain the mobile phone, but the outlet said the agent began drafting a search warrant to extract the data. “We know that Biden intentionally leaked to the media and that Merrick Garland leaked his request to indict his political opponent, Donald Trump,” Jarrett said. “So, those who break the law, those who violate the standards and arm their strength and positions for political purposes and revenge are not only publicly responsible, but if they break the law, they will be in court.

In 2023, Trump was indicted by Biden’s DOJ on more than 80 felony charges in four criminal investigations and was found 34 felony counts by May 2024 after Democrat District Attorney Alvin Bragg filed a lawsuit against the president for forged business records. However, since Trump’s first administration, he has called out the DOJ and the FBI because he is corrupt. This follows the FBI’s investigation into the 2016 campaign after it was accused of colluding with Russia. The agency found no evidence of conspiracy.

Among the charges being indicted against Trump, Garland tapped former special prosecutor Jack Smith to lead an investigation effort against the president. Smith has won more than $50 million in taxpayer money for his two prosecutions against Trump. The appeal for an investigation has already begun on Smith, questioning the motives of the former special prosecutors to advance the case, despite Trump’s winning the election in November and later dropping them.
