ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said on Wednesday Fox News host Sean Hannity that Democrats’ clear obsession with President Donald Trump could pose a future election.
Smith’s critique follows Democrats who spout identical anti-Trump rhetoric before the president’s joint speech to Congress on March 4, and post videos of themselves spouting identical anti-Trump rhetoric before facing backlash in their actions during the speech. After Hannity denounced the Democratic actions during his speech, Smith warned of “Hannity” that the party’s seemingly misguided priorities would not win the mid-2026 period or regain the presidency in 2028. “This is the problem. Apart from one of the issues and one of the many issues in the Democrats, not known as the party that deals with the working class, it made Trump appear normal,” Smith said. “Beyond all of this, here’s the ultimate crime going on. They’re literally sitting on Capitol Hill, but most of them aren’t all.
“It’s not going to get them medium term. It’s not going to help them get the White House back. It’s fool’s money. And someone has to tell them. I’m trying to tell them. I don’t think I’m alone,” he continued. “But when conservatives like you and various other people are uttering something like this, it’s painful to say, ‘You’re right.’ And they’re better off doing something about it…and if the tariff situation works in Trump’s favor, the Lord will help them. They wouldn’t really have feet to stand up. ”
Smith also claimed that Democrats currently lack a strong leader in February, shortly after finishing an interview with minority leader Hakeem Jeffries.
“I’m not slandering leader Jeffries in any way, but when I think about the national voice of the party, who is that?” he asked. “It doesn’t exist now.”
The Democrats’ disapproval rating also reached 57%, but the approval rate approached a record low of 31% among registered voters. According to Meanwhile, Republicans held a 43% positive rating and a 45% negative rating for Quinnipiac University Polling, released on January 29th.
