Drive Electric Alabama recently announced that a range of electric vehicles will be showcased this week, with EV owners available for personal conversations with anyone looking to learn more about these vehicles at two upcoming events in North Alabama.
The first event, a free EV showcase, is scheduled for Saturday, September 13th, at the Kalman Electric Cooperative during their annual general meeting, running from 9 AM to noon. A second event will take place on Saturday, September 20th, from 11 AM to 2 PM near the Tesla Superchargers in Mid City, Huntsville.
Michael Staley, the President of Alabama Clean Fuel Union, remarked on how EVs have become a topic laden with political biases that often overshadow the facts. He expressed that the purpose of the EV showcase is to enlighten attendees about the benefits of electric vehicles, which are generally more efficient, cost-effective to maintain, and offer a longer range than many gasoline-powered cars today. Staley drives an all-electric, full-size Chevrolet pickup and emphasized the variety of electric vehicles available now, including sedans, SUVs, and performance cars. He encourages even skeptics to come out and ask questions.
During the Kalman showcase, various vendors will also be present as part of the cooperative’s meeting. Both upcoming showcases are sponsored by Drive Electric Alabama and the Alabama Clean Fuel Union.
There’s an important deadline approaching; the federal tax credits for purchasing new and used EVs will come to an end on September 30th. This could influence potential EV owners significantly.
Alabama Power customers also have the chance to benefit from additional savings, including lower overnight charging rates and a $500 rebate for home charger installation.
Staley further shared that many misconceptions surround electric vehicles, and he believes personal conversations with current EV owners can help clarify the facts. He noted how EV owners are eager to share their positive experiences related to cost savings and performance. A lot of people seem to be interested in checking out the showcase this month in North Alabama.
