USWNT Nearly Makes History With Whopping TV Ratings As World Cup Opening Win Second-Most Viewed Group Stage Game Ever

Hate it or love it, the girls deliver power numbers.

Already back-to-back World Cup champions, the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) is aiming for a third consecutive title, and many are eager to see it.

Friday night’s tournament opener against Vietnam was one of the most-watched games in the history of the Women’s World Cup group stage, according to English-language television, with huge TV ratings. fox sports.

Across the competition, viewership averaged just over 5.2 million, making it the second most-watched group stage competition in Women’s World Cup history.

The only game in which this number has been surpassed was in 2019 when the USWNT played Chile, where the American won 3-0 to earn a ticket to the Round of 16.

Between 10:45 and 11:00 p.m., the number of viewers reached 6,552,000.

Here we have to give credit to the women. These numbers are impressive.

I personally wasn’t sure what to expect after seeing so many people saying they weren’t going to watch or weren’t interested (and no, I wasn’t watching the game myself as I was out with my family on a Friday night) so I wasn’t surprised by the low numbers.

We weren’t surprised by the high numbers, but what about this one? Almost record breaking?

Yes, to be honest, I was a little taken aback. (Related: Joel Embiid Marries Sports Illustrated Model Girlfriend Anne De Paula)

The USWNT has managed to raise some golden ratings despite being subject to many boycotts and backlash. You have to give them props. I personally don’t hate USWNT (although I find Megan Rapinoe a bit annoying). I hope they (again) bring the trophy back to America, but that’s just me.

So… congratulations, everyone! Stop being political.
