Truck Driver’s Death Under Investigation in Arizona
Tucson, Ariz. – Earlier this year, a truck driver tragically lost his life after being brutally attacked at a rest area in Cochise County. The case is now classified as a murder investigation, although the suspect is reportedly overseas.
Jack Chen was initially admitted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tucson following the incident on February 15th. He remained in a coma while receiving care from hospital staff until he was moved to a facility closer to his home in Georgia in April. Despite his efforts to recover, he passed away on Sunday, just a day before his 59th birthday, leaving behind his wife and three children.
“Seeing my husband like that, I felt like my entire world had ended,” said Jennifer Chen, his wife, during an exclusive interview in February.
Jennifer had hoped for her husband’s recovery, but that hope was shattered when he died. “Yesterday, my husband left this dirty world forever and went to heaven. I appreciate those following my husband’s case and learning about our family’s sorrow,” she expressed. “Thank you for standing up for justice!”
Previously a math teacher and insurance agent, Jack was the sole provider for his family.
“This crime seems utterly senseless based on what we’ve gathered so far,” remarked Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannel.
The attack was reported through a 911 call made by Chen, in which he stated, “the truck driver hurt me a lot,” but the call ended abruptly after he heard screams.
While detectives had limited evidence initially, thorough police work led them to identify truck driver Azizbek Ahdoff from Pennsylvania as the main suspect. Authorities suspect Ahdov has fled to Uzbekistan.
“We’re currently trying to locate him and bring him back to face charges, as we have been informed that he left the country,” Dannel noted.
Officials are collaborating with Interpol to facilitate Ahdov’s trial.
“We’re on the verge of catching him. We’re confident we’ll locate this individual. We’re committed to using all available resources to ensure he returns to Cochise County,” Dannel emphasized.
Jennifer Chen expressed deep appreciation for the medical team in Tucson, acknowledging that her husband fought hard. Right now, her family is yearning for justice, and Sheriff Dannel reassures that his team is dedicated to seeing that justice is served.
