Video obtained by WFLA News shows the boat hurtling toward beachgoers before crashing into the North Carolina coast on Saturday.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. near the pier of the DoubleTree Hotel in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. according to WFL News.

Video posted by the media on Twitter showed the boat bobbing against the waves as it speeds towards the shore.

Beachgoers can be seen running away from shore to avoid the expected collision, as the boat eventually crashes into the shore and comes to a halt.

“It was a bizarre moment,” Emily Carr, who recorded the incident, told WFLA News.

“Shouldn't they change course?” Carr reportedly said in a video shared with the outlet. (Related: Shocking footage of seaplane crashing into boat, injuring two).

Carr told the outlet that he watched the incident from his balcony and warned people on the beach to move on, and that no one was in the water at the time, WFLA reported.

Atlantic Beach Police said at least seven people were on the boat, WFLA reported, and two people were hospitalized after the incident and are expected to be in stable condition.

Elaine Nichols spoke to WFLA about the incident, saying she was shocked when she realized the boat wouldn't stop and said, “Oh my god, it's not stopping.”

“We couldn't believe what we were seeing,” Nichols told the outlet.

“The boat was getting closer and closer and it was going really fast,” Nichols told WFLA. “It was getting closer and closer and it got really nerve-wracking.”

“I've never seen anything like it,” Carr told the outlet. “I'm 41 years old, I grew up on the coast and I've been around boats all my life and I've never seen anything like it. No one expects a 48-foot sport fishing boat hurtling towards shore.”

The incident remains under investigation by NC Wildlife, according to WFLA.
