Video Shows Car Dragging Officer In Failed Russian Police Stunt

A Russian police officer was caught on video being dragged by a car, the Daily Mail reported on Friday.

A police stunt using a Ford Focus went horribly wrong, resulting in an officer being run over during a skills demonstration. according to According to the Daily Mail, the event took place in a car park and saw officers show off their motorbike-driving skills, with several officers lying on the ground in a board position during the demonstration.

A Ford Focus driven by a fellow officer should have been able to safely drive over them. Instead, the car failed to maintain sufficient speed and fell on one of the officers, 48-year-old Alexei, the media reported. Video shows bystanders gasping and screaming as Alexei is hit by the car's wheels, hit in the helmet and pinned under the vehicle. He is then dragged around the parking lot. Subsequent video clips showed several police officers rushing to Alexei's aid and pulling his car away. According to the Daily Mail, the stunt went out of control and the car crashed into the officers. Alexei suffered a broken leg, dislocated fingers and back injuries. He was quickly taken to hospital where his injuries were deemed serious but not life-threatening.

According to the Daily Mail, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Police confirmed that the accident occurred during a vocational training session, and confirmed that the injured officer received immediate medical treatment and was out of immediate danger. The police force has yet to say whether the driver of the Ford Focus will face disciplinary action following the accident.
