A father was filmed heroically thwarting an attempted kidnapping of his child in Miami on Thursday, Local 10 News reported.
The incident occurred at 11:55 a.m. as the family was leaving the CVS Pharmacy. according to Go to Local 10 News. The family's ordeal began when Nicholas Starnaman, 26, entered the store and made a beeline for the boy.surveillance picture Stirnaman is said to have caught the child as he tried to snatch her, and in a daring move, he grabbed her by the neck and lifted her off the ground.

The child's father immediately sprang into action and tackled Stirnaman, forcing him to release his grip on the boy. Meanwhile, the mother punched the assailant and the son fell to safety. She immediately picked him up and comforted the upset child, according to Local 10 News. Stirnaman fled the scene, leaving his jacket behind. Authorities later arrested him after police discovered his real address during the investigation. However, David H. Pollack, the attorney for the suspect's residence, clarified that Sternaman has no residential or ownership relationship with the location. Stirnaman faces felony charges of aggravated child abuse and assault, the paper added. His criminal history came to light when Miami Beach police arrested him on January 3 on suspicion of petty theft, and he was released on $150 bail. He had a status hearing scheduled for the morning of the attempted abduction charge, and a misdemeanor trial was scheduled for April 1.
