Video Shows Fire Truck Swerve To Avoid Car, Slam Into Building

A fire truck was captured on security camera footage Friday rushing into a Long Island furniture store to avoid a collision with a car.

According to the fire department, the incident occurred at around 11:30 a.m. when firefighters responded to a report of a burning smell inside the building. NBC New York And that long island herald.

In the video, the Rockville Center truck can be seen making a sudden left turn behind the white SUV, which appears not to have noticed the vehicle approaching.

The fire truck then crashed through a brick exterior wall and into a furniture store on the corner of the block. The video also shows the rear of the truck colliding with a white SUV. Two people inside the building and three paramedics from the fire truck suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital, but the driver of the white SUV refused treatment, NBC reported.

After the incident, it took nearly three hours for the building to be stable enough for fire engines to be removed. according to ABC7.

“[They] All had minor injuries,” Rockville Center Fire Chief Tony Rugolo said. Said Pix 11. “It was a pretty horrific accident. When you look at that scene, it's a miracle.”
