Video Shows Fistfight Erupting On Southwest Flight

A scheduled flight from Oakland, California to Hawaii turned into the scene of a chaotic altercation between two passengers, Fox News reported Wednesday.

Onboard Southwest Airlines Flight 1288, a witness was able to capture the moment on video, revealing that a brawl suddenly broke out in the sky.

The altercation began as an exchange of words between the two men, but quickly escalated into a physical confrontation. according to On Fox News. Fellow passengers and flight attendants quickly intervened, separating the two and restoring peace on the plane.

The quick response included notable efforts by one passenger in particular, who deftly utilized de-escalation techniques to calm a visibly aggravated person, the newspaper reported. According to FOX News, two people allegedly involved in the conflict were detained after arriving in Hawaii. When asked for comment, Southwest Airlines affirmed its commitment to passenger safety.

“According to our report, two customers were disrupted on board Flight 1288 from Oakland to Lihue on February 12,” a Southwest Airlines spokesperson said, Fox News reported. “We commend the professionalism of our crew and customers in bringing this situation under control. Our top priority is the safety and health of our customers and employees. We landed safely and were met by local authorities on arrival.”
