Video Shows Good Samaritan Land Wicked Cross Body Block On Criminal Fleeing Police

On January 3, a good Samaritan was caught on camera performing a brutal cross-body block on a suspected burglar who was being chased by police in New York, the New York Post reported.

The pursuit began in the early afternoon, when Ring doorbell video allegedly captured Edel Mateo stealing two packages from a front door, the New York Post reported.

According to the New York Post, the owner was not home when Edel Mateo allegedly lifted the package, but called police after seeing the video.

“I witnessed someone steal two packages on my Ring camera,” the homeowner said, according to audio released by Yonkers Police.

Police tried to stop Edel Mateo as he was walking in a residential area, but he ran off, the New Post reported.

According to the New York Post, the suspect was immediately forced out of the car by public works workers and pinned to the floor.

“To all the future thieves who are planning these crimes in Yonkers, please choose another location. We will not tolerate this,” Yonkers police said in a statement. Facebook post.

Police said Edel Mateo was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree felony possession of stolen property, the New York Post reported.
