Video Shows Good Samaritans Make Dramatic Rescue Of Man From Burning Truck

ABC7 reported on video of the moment good Samaritans rescued a driver from a burning dump truck that overturned on a California highway Friday afternoon.

Video shows heavy flames and smoke filling the air around the overturned truck in the eastbound lanes of Highway 134, with a man filming the scene saying, “Everyone got out safely.'' I hope I can do it,” he was heard saying. ABC7.

As the man's car approaches the crime scene and the car slows down, a man's voice can be heard saying, “Oh, they're trying to take him out,” and two men standing in the road are seen driving the car. The video shows two men pulling the victim from the cab of the truck while two other men look on as flames and smoke billow from the truck's trailer.

One YouTube user said, “Oh my god…these Samaritans risked their own safety to save this truck driver…this gives me a ray of hope for humanity. “…” he commented.

Firefighters quickly arrived and extinguished the fire, ABC7 reported. Authorities said the driver was not seriously injured, the paper said.

The crash backed up traffic for miles on the eastbound side of Route 134 as rush hour approached and only one lane of traffic was open, the paper said. Curiosity may have slowed westbound traffic as drivers tried to view the accident scene. According to the newspaper, both sides of the road were reopened around 5 p.m.

According to ABC7, authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
