Video Shows Man Slipping Into Waterfall While Posing For Picture

A video posted to Twitter on Monday showed a young Indian man slipping and falling during a photo shoot and being swept away by a gushing waterfall, likely to his death.

The man, identified by police as 23-year-old Sharath, slipped and fell while standing on a rock above Arashinagundi Falls. according to The Times of India posted a video on one of its Twitter accounts.

His body has not yet been recovered, but authorities believe he likely drowned in the rapids, according to The Times. A search and rescue operation is underway, led by a diving expert and supported by local police and fire and emergency department staff, the newspaper said.

Sharas and his family drove to the waterfall together around 7:30 on Sunday morning, according to a missing persons report filed by his father with the Korul police station. According to the complaint, the family traveled from the city of Badravati to the Udupi district where the waterfall is located, Times News Now reported. report.

According to the media, heavy rains flooded the Udupi district, inundating the local lake basin, and local authorities banned tourists from visiting the Arashinagundi waterfall.
