West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin appears ready to fight protesters after Friday's event at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government was disrupted by a group of climate protesters. Looked.
A “youth-led” group calling itself Climate Defiance claimed responsibility for the disruption, which was thought to be attended by around seven protesters.

Protesters went on to call Manchin a “terrible son of a bitch,” and the moderate Democrat stepped out of his chair toward the heckler with a gun.
A man, believed to be a security guard or an aide to Mr. Manchin, then stepped between the two men, calmed down the senator, then grabbed the protester by the arm and threw him through an open door.

The Kennedy School independently published statementnoted that “protesters disrupted the rally for several minutes.” [Institute of Politics] A study session where Senator Joe Manchin served as a guest speaker. ”
“Harvard University police officers ordered the protesters to leave the Kennedy School campus, and the protesters complied,” the statement continued. “Senator Manchin continued to have discussions with IOP students after the disruption. The Harvard University Police Department and the Kennedy School are investigating this incident.”
Manchin is a former governor who won a Senate seat in a 2010 special election and is West Virginia's only Democratic senator. He is not seeking re-election in 2024.
