Watch: Highlight reel shows Alabama’s newest QB commit making play after play

The Alabama Crimson Tide have landed one of the best quarterbacks in the nation for the 2025 class.

Kieron Russell from Duncanville High School in Texas was a promising college-level talent and had committed to SMU since last September, but head coach Cullen DeBoer and his staff were able to convert the talented young quarterback, becoming the first high school quarterback to sign since DeBoer took the quarterback job in Tuscaloosa.

According to 247Sports Overall RankingRussell is the No. 6 quarterback overall in the country and the No. 10 prospect in the talent-rich state of Texas.

Let's take a look at some of the best plays from the future Crimson Tide star.

In his scouting report, 245's Andrew Ivins described Russell as “an elite playmaker at quarterback who can tear up defenses with his arm and legs. He's been surrounded by All-Stars the past two years, but he's more than at the helm and often steps up in key situations. He's accurate through the first two levels and gets the ball out quickly. He's flexible enough to slide in the pocket and has both the speed and agility to turn scrambles into dominant gains. He's a one-read, look-ahead pitcher at the moment, but isn't afraid to take hits and put up flags while scanning the field.”

Russell is expected to commit to the Crimson Tide and has also canceled visits to Florida and Oregon.

Alabama may have found its next star quarterback.
