Winning all of the battleground states in what was expected to be a close election wasn’t the biggest surprise Tuesday. The election decision was not made that quickly.

The biggest surprise was that Trump appeared to have won the popular vote, something Republicans have never done in the past 20 years. Republican strategists told the Daily Caller that Trump will use proxy voting to target black and Latino voters in particular, drawing away from Democratic bases that typically make up the popular vote in big cities. Republicans have not cited Harris’ unsuccessful campaign or Biden’s reluctance to withdraw as reasons why Trump could have won the 2024 election. Rather, they point to the accomplishments of the Trump campaign and the policies offered by the president-elect as the reason for the historic campaign.

“He empowered surrogate mothers like Byron. [Donalds] Janiya Thomas on our team, and myself included, are trying to broaden our message by delivering a message that speaks directly to Black people, while at the same time saying, “Hey, we’re here to solve your problems.” I even changed it back to the word “masu”.
