‘We Don’t Need This To Be Politicized’: Reagan Reese Says Biden Should ‘Step Up’ And Call For Unity

Daily Caller reporter Reagan Reese, during a Tuesday appearance on Newsmax, called on President Joe Biden to move beyond politics and unify the country.

Democrats have maintained an unusual silence in the aftermath of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, sparking speculation and criticism from political commentators. The silence contrasts with the party's typical response, which has often called for immediate tougher gun control measures. Cam Edwards, editor of the popular podcast “Bearing Arms,” and Reese, White House correspondent for the Daily Caller, said: Discussed This happened in a recent conversation.

“I've never seen such silence after a shooting,” Newsmax host Carl Higbee said.

“Karl, this is strange. I'm the reason for the mess the Democratic Party is in right now. You see people like Chris Murphy calling for gun control. I'm surprised Joe Biden isn't doing the same thing,” Edwards replied. (Related article: Victim of assassination attempt on President Trump recovers from coma: reports)

Reese stressed that Biden needs to take a more active role in addressing the nation's gun control debate.

“This is where President Biden really needs to step up, and we've seen him call for unity in the midst of this crisis, this tragedy, and I don't think this country needs calls for gun control when a former president came inches from being killed,” Reese said. “So the calls for unity that we're seeing from Democrats, especially at this convention, are exactly what this country needs right now, and we don't need to politicize this any more.”

The conversation also highlighted the need for accountability within federal agencies: “We need to know who is actually in charge and whether their political positions are getting in the way of doing their jobs,” Edwards continued.

When asked if gun control would be an issue at the Republican National Convention, Reese said the focus would remain on inspiring and supporting Trump. “I've spoken to a lot of people who are grateful to be here with a living former president,” Reese explained.
