Teamsters Chairman Sean O’Brien says California Democratic Sen. Nancy Pelosi and New York Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer should “stand back” following Vice President Kamala Harris’ loss in the presidential election. He suggested that.
The union announced in September that it would not endorse President-elect Donald Trump in the election, despite his overwhelming support in the election. “The polls we did were massive. Obviously, it was tilted towards President Trump, but there’s still a big contingency that they’re going to vote Democratic,” O’Brien said. “The decisions we made as a general executive committee, I support them. So it’s a great opportunity for both sides, especially the Republican Party, to prove that. There are a lot of problems in this country that need to be solved. No need.”

Kabuto pointed out that O’Brien did not speak at the Democratic convention in August after speaking at the Republican convention in July. O’Brien said he wants elected officials to “take care of workers.”
“We want results, not excuses,” O’Brien said. “And the great thing about this process is we have four more years to make sure we have the right people in place to make the right decisions if people on either side don’t keep their word or don’t fix the problem. It takes four years to build a machine.
O’Brien also criticized Democratic leaders, saying they were focusing too much on “social issues” during an “economic campaign.”
“At the end of the day, many of these issues are important, but what’s more important is providing opportunities for families, putting food on the table, saving money, and living the American dream. You have to explore,” O’Brien said. “I said this in another interview today. Democrats need to look in the mirror and say maybe the Chuck Schumer era is over, maybe… the Pelosi era is over. Who’s the party?” Let’s think about how we can be the best.” (Related: ‘Take a closer look’: Joe Scarborough admits Democrats are ‘fundamentally disconnected’ from Americans)
“As an organization, we’re always thinking about how we can leave this organization better than when we started. I think that’s what we need to focus on,” O’Brien added. “Look, we all have pensions for a reason, and that’s to use them to retire and enjoy life. Maybe they should take a page from Joe Biden’s book and put it aside. You should stand.”
