Concerns Surrounding Super Bowl and Immigration
Corey Lewandowski has suggested the possibility of immigration officials being present at the 2025 Super Bowl, especially since Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny is set to perform during the halftime show.
In a recent interview on Benny Johnson’s podcast, the former Trump campaign manager made it clear that he sees no sanctuary for illegal immigrants at this event. He asserted, “There’s no place to provide a safe haven, not the Super Bowl.” He ominously warned that immigration authorities could indeed show up at the game.
“We’ll find you,” Lewandowski stated. “We’re going to arrest you. We’ll put you in detention facilities and we’ll deport you. So we know that it’s a very realistic situation under this administration.”
A spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security mentioned, when asked about the potential presence of ICE agents, that “there are no safe shelters in the United States for violent crime illegal aliens.”
Bad Bunny’s selection as a halftime entertainer followed his decision to skip dates on his current tour, leading to a backlash from some conservative circles upon the announcement.
Lewandowski also claimed that Bad Bunny had told Johnson during their discussion at the Super Bowl to “connect people and don’t separate them.”
He emphasized that immigration enforcement will target all venues, whether it’s a concert featuring Bad Bunny or any other artist, saying, “If there are illegal aliens, I don’t care if it’s a Johnny Smith concert or someone else’s.”
As an advisor to DHS Executive Director Kristi Noem, Lewandowski framed his statements as reflective of the Trump administration’s approach to immigration.
“We’re going to enforce anywhere because we’re making Americans safe. That’s an instruction from the president,” he said. Additionally, he suggested that those in the country illegally should consider leaving voluntarily, saying they would have a chance to return legally.
He concluded with a warning: “If you’re here illegally, you don’t care if you’ve been here for two minutes, two days, or 20 years – we’ll find you. We’re going to deport you, so we just know what’s coming.”
