Libertarian strategist Tim Miller said on Thursday’s podcast that Democrats are trying to make President Joe Biden feel “included” in the presidential race even though he withdrew from the race in July. He said that we should stop pampering ourselves.
Republicans criticized Biden on Tuesday after he called supporters of former President Donald Trump “trash” in an interview with Voto Latino. On “Pod Save America,” Miller called Biden’s comments “indecipherable,” saying Biden likely did not intend to target Trump supporters and supporting Vice President Kamala Harris. He suggested that they should focus on other responsibilities instead.
“I don’t think his intention was actually to call Donald Trump supporters trash, but who can know? In fact, the entire quote is indecipherable. I don’t think his intention was to actually call Donald Trump supporters trash, but who could know? In fact, the entire quote is indecipherable. It’s indecipherable, it’s just useless to be outside,” Miller said. “I’m a little angry because I feel like the Democratic Party and the people around the Biden administration and even the Harris campaign don’t understand why they feel like they have to coddle the president of the United States. Walk on eggshells and see if he feels included. ”
“He’s the president of the United States. President Biden should be doing the president’s job — having personal meetings, meeting with the generals, meeting with the pardons commission, deciding who to pardon and the last two months. He should think about what his duties are. That seems to be his job right now,” Miller added.
Mr. Miller went on to say that Mr. Biden’s interviews with others would not help Ms. Harris, and urged her not to take her suggestion that Mr. Biden cease campaigning as an insult. (Related article: ‘Don’t believe this crap’: Megyn Kelly says voters don’t believe Democrats’ ‘Hitler’ rhetoric)

“It’s not beneficial for him to go out with Kamala Harris at all. He shouldn’t take it personally. We don’t have to care about his feelings about it,” Miller continued. “He shouldn’t make people feel bad about something he’s not – whatever. I’m very frustrated to see leaks being reported in the New York Times and Politico on this issue. Everyone should be focused on defeating Donald Trump and making Kamala Harris win this election.”
“It’s hard to think of a public action that Joe Biden would take that would be beneficial to that goal, and he certainly wouldn’t be on some kind of Zoom to fill his calendar,” Miller said. “I can’t think of any reason why that would be helpful. So please, guys, this is not personal. Please don’t take it personal. If I make a gaffe and Fox News airs it tomorrow, I’d better hide for the next five days. Kamala Harris needs to win no matter what.”
Biden’s controversial comments come after Republicans and Trump faced backlash after comedian Tony Hinchcliffe called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash” during a rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday. It was served in response.
Harris has reportedly tried to distance herself from Biden since becoming the party’s presidential nominee, as voters’ top concerns include the economy, inflation and immigration. This is because Mr. Biden received a lower rating than Mr. Trump in these areas. Despite these efforts, Harris said in an Oct. 8 interview with ABC’s “The View” that when asked if she would change anything from the past four years, she couldn’t think of “anything.” Worth noting.
