‘Who Gives A F?’: Charlamagne Downplays Stolen Valor Accusation Against Tim Walz, Pushes For Gun Control

Radio host Charlaman the God on Friday downplayed defamation charges against Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz for falsely representing Walz's previous military service in the National Guard.

CNN correspondent Tom Foreman fact-checked Governor Walz's claim on Wednesday that he carried weapons “in a war” while talking about gun control legislation, saying there was “no evidence” that the Minnesota governor's statement was true. The Breakfast Club” awarded Foreman its “Donkey of the Day” for fact-checking the president and said the priority should be gun control, not Walz’s comments about military service. “Who cares? … I don't care if Tim Walz had a weapon in combat. You know what I care about? What I care about is what Tim Walz really brought to the forefront, which is that military-style assault weapons should not be in the hands of civilians,” Charmagne said. “Military-style assault weapons are designed for maximum lethality in combat situations, OK? … So they're too dangerous for civilians to have, OK? They're coming in helicopters and killing 15 to 20 people at concerts and churches. I don't think there's a place in America at this point that hasn't had a mass shooting, OK?”

The radio host blamed “assault-style weapons” for the “increasing number of mass shootings” and argued that this type of gun “is not needed for self-defense or hunting”.

“But Republicans don't want to have that conversation, because to have that conversation they would have to come up with some form of common-sense gun reform, and that's not going to happen because the gun lobbyists, the NRA, are in the pockets of most politicians,” Charmagne added. “Why isn't CNN talking about this?”

Shalraman said he had “no problem” with Walz's “fact check,” but noted the discussion should be “centered” on gun control.

Vice President Kamala Harris campaigned on Tuesday. Promoted Fox News posted a video online of Walz at a campaign event in which he advocated for gun control measures and said he wanted to ban weapons “brought into war.” Reported.

“We can be sure that the weapons of war that I carried with me to war are stored there and only there,” Waltz said.

Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance said at a press conference on Wednesday that Walz's comments about his time in the military were “disingenuous.”

“He said I shouldn't have weapons left on the streets that I used in the war. Tim Waltz, it makes me wonder when you were in the war. You abandoned your unit right before you went to Iraq, you never spent a day in a combat zone, and what weapons did you bring to the war,” Vance said. “What bothers me about Tim Waltz is all this nonsense about stolen heroism.”
