Former President Donald Trump's lawyers grilled a key witness Tuesday about why he sent the defense attorney a document confirming the start of a relationship between Fulton County District Attorney Fannie Willis and Nathan Wade.
Mr. Wade's former law partner and divorce attorney, Terrence Bradley, told Ashley Merchant, the lawyer for Mr. Trump's co-defendant Michael Roman, on Tuesday that the relationship between Mr. Willis and Mr. Wade was due to the number of times he was employed. He testified that he was “speculating” when he told him in a text message that it had started a year ago. Mr. Sadow asked Mr. Bradley, who repeatedly said during the hearing that he “doesn't remember” when their relationship began, why Mr. Marchant was trying to set a deadline for a motion to disqualify him. I asked him if he would “speculate” on such information. District attorney.
“It started when she left the prosecutor's office and was a judge in South Fulton,” according to messages read aloud during the hearing. It was written. “They met at a CLE meeting in the district court.”
Mr. Willis and Mr. Wade claim their relationship began in 2022 when Mr. Wade was hired as special counsel in charge of the case against Mr. Trump.
Mr. Bradley previously took the witness stand during a hearing earlier this month, but refused to answer most questions, citing attorney-client privilege. Judge Scott McAfee ruled in a private meeting with Bradley on Monday that some of his communications with Wade regarding his romantic relationship with Willis were not covered by attorney-client privilege, and ordered Bradley again. He was ordered to take the witness stand.

Sadow continued to press Bradley on why he would make such claims about the beginnings of Willis and Wade's relationship when he didn't know it was true.
“Why speculate when she's asking you directly about when the relationship started?” Sadow asked.
“I don't have an answer to that,” Bradley said.
“I don't want to testify to that in court other than the fact that I actually know when it started,” Sadow said. “That's the best explanation.”
Throughout the hearing, Bradley repeatedly said he “couldn't remember” answers to questions from his attorneys, including when he learned of their relationship.
