A winter storm warning is in effect for much of northern and central Arizona through late Tuesday night. This includes the Kaibab Plateau, the Mogollon Rim, the Coconino Plateau, the mountains of Yavapai County, the White Mountains, and parts of northern Gila County.
Some areas have at least two feet of snow, according to the National Weather Service. Snow rates can average up to 1 inch per hour.
school closures/delays
Regional school closures, including Northern Arizona University, the Flagstaff Unified School District, all Flagstaff Montessori schools, and Coconino Community College’s Flagstaff campus, are in effect through Tuesday, January 17. NAU also canceled campus operations on Tuesday, except for essential positions.
Window Rock School District will start two hours late on Tuesday.
Showers will begin to taper from the west to the east on Tuesday afternoon. Rain and snow are likely again on Thursday and Friday, but light accumulation is expected.
