x5 Auburn Tigers selected in NFL Draft, all from defensive roster

With the NFL Draft year coming to an end, the Auburn University Tigers have selected five players in this year's draft, and interestingly, all five players were selected from the Auburn University defense.

The Seattle Seahawks selected the Tigers with the 136th overall pick in the fifth round to acquire defensive back Nehemiah Pritchett, a Jackson, Alabama, native who played five years at Auburn University.

The second Tiger to be drafted was also a defensive back, with the Indianapolis Colts selecting Jaylin Simpson, a Brunswick, Georgia, native who also played five years in the NBA, in the fifth round (164th overall).

Seattle clearly liked the Auburn defensive backs as they also used their sixth-round pick on Mobile native DJ James with the 192nd overall pick.

All three players, along with seventh-round pick defensive tackle Marcus Harris, have been invited to the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile.

Harris was selected with the 247th overall pick in the seventh round by the Houston Texans, while fellow defensive lineman Justin Rodgers was selected three spots earlier by the Dallas Cowboys.

With the talent Hugh Freeze has in 2024, Auburn is expected to land an early round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
