Yavapay County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Brooks Compton met with representatives of Arizona Public Services (APS) James Bloom and Karin Taylor Robson. On Thursday, February 13th, Arizona’s Best Land Use Strategy Team discusses efforts to improve the reliability of electrical services in rural areas, including future educational opportunities for residents of Willowa, Congress, Yanell and Yabapai County . They also discussed APS Public Security Power Shut-off (PSPS) plans this summer.

Supervisor Compton said: We know how important it is to have power in our homes, and APS has proven to be a reliable partner. We also work vigorously with several broadband internet providers to ensure the access everyone needs to succeed. ”

APS introduced the PSPS plan last year. This will only affect customers in targeted, high-fire risk communities to keep Arizonan safe. Under certain conditions, the AP can temporarily shut down power to certain areas to prevent the electrical system from initiating or contributing wildfires via fallen wires or careless sparks. For more information, see Public Security Power Shut-off.

A conversation with Mrs. Robson, Vice-Chairman Compton, included several Yabapai County-specific economic development issues, including the need for nursing schools to support staff at local hospitals and the future growth of local educational institutions. I did. Vice-Chairman Compton said he looks forward to working with Mrs. Robson in the future.
