District 2 September Event Highlights

Live Poets Society – Beaver Creek

  • Date and Time: Every second Saturday of the month at 11:00 AM
  • what: Each month, the group chooses a poetry topic or poet, reads it and shares their thoughts about it.
  • where: Beavercreek Public Library, 4810 E. Beavercreek Road, Rimrock

Medicare Consultants – Beaver Creek

  • Date and Time: September 14th; 10am-12pm
  • what: Want to learn more or have questions about Medicare? Want to learn more about your coverage? Join Medicare Consultant Roberta Trovinger to learn the answers to your questions.

Card Game – Black Canyon City

  • Date and Time: Wednesday; 1pm
  • what: Join us for a card game at VFW Post 1796/American Legion Post 90 in Black Canyon City.

Henna Art – Black Canyon City

  • Date and Time: September 7th 11:30 AM
  • what: Desert Henna Artist Leah Marie will be visiting to teach about Henna art and Indian culture as well as perform Henna art on patrons.

Norman's Workshop – Black Canyon City

5th Annual High Desert Classic – Camp Verde

  • Date and Time: September 14th; gates open at 3pm, race starts at 6pm
  • what: Head out to Verde Valley Raceway for an afternoon of racing and fun.

Community Library Music in the Stacks – Camp Verde

  • Date and Time: September 12th, 5pm
  • what: Music in the Stacks is a showcase for local and national musicians who regularly play in Northern Arizona. This month's show features Spencer Vandevier, Pandy Rays and Mark Bishop.

Spooky Movie Night in the Park – Chino Valley

  • Date and Time: October 18
  • what: Join some of your favorite spirits and ghosts for a screening of Hotel Transylvania: Transformia at Memory Park. The movie begins after dark.

Harpy Trail – Clarkdale

  • Date and Time: September 18th 2:00pm – 3:30pm
  • what: Enjoy an evening of traditional Celtic music with Ken and Lynn Michael. With over 30 years of musical experience, the pair bring to life the music and poetry of the West.

Comic Book Creation – Clarkdale

  • Date and Time: September 21st 12:00pm – 1:30pm
  • what: You'll learn the fundamentals of story, dialogue, sequence, capturing emotion, and using panel and page boundaries.

Baked Potato Dinner – Cordes Lakes

  • Date and Time: September 14th 4pm – 6pm
  • what: Choose from three toppings, and it comes with a salad, dessert and drink. It's $6 for members and $7 for non-members.
  • where: Cordes Lakes Community Center, 16357 S. Cordes Lakes Drive.

Thunder Valley Rally – Cottonwood

  • Date and Time: September 20th and 21st
  • what: It's a two-day fun-filled event with live music, vendors, food and drink, a poker run and more.
  • where: Riverfront Park, 1284 E. Riverfront Road, Cottonwood.

Food Truck Rally – Cottonwood

  • Date and Time: September 18th; 11am-6pm
  • what: Tractor Supply in Cottonwood has a variety of delicious foods available for purchase from their amazing food trucks: smoked meats, corn, tacos, ice cream, shaved ice, and more – you can't go wrong.
  • where: Tractor Supply Cottonwood, 685 W. State Route 89A, Cottonwood

Crown King Fire Department Annual Dinner/Dance/Auction – Crown King

  • Date and Time: September 14th; advance tickets open at 1:30pm, general sale at 2pm
  • what: Support the Crown King Volunteer Fire Department with dinner, dancing and an auction.
  • where: 7235 Main Street, Crown King

Smokey Bear's 80th Birthday Party – Dewey Humboldt

  • Date and Time: September 24, 3:30 PM
  • what: Join Smokey Bear for a special fire education story time, swag bags and cupcakes.
  • where: 2735 S. Corral Street, Humboldt

Halloween Dance – Jerome

  • Date and Time: October 26th, 8pm-12pm, doors open at 7pm
  • what: Wear your best costume and dance the night away to live music from The Naughty Bits. There will also be a costume contest and prizes.
  • where: A heated tent next to a sliding jail cell

Community Picnic – Jerome

  • Date and Time: September 26th 5pm – 7pm
  • what: Join the community and members of the Jerome Fire Department for our annual picnic. The Jerome Fire Department Auxiliary will be serving hot dogs, burgers, chips, water and soda. It's a great opportunity to thank our local volunteer firefighters for all their hard work. Side dishes will be provided by the fire department.

Creekside Country – Meyer

  • Date and Time: September 13th and 14th, 6pm to 11pm
  • what: Country at Creekside is a two-day music festival held in the beautiful outdoors of Mayer, Arizona. Dance to some of Arizona's best country bands. Tickets can be purchased online.
  • where: Creekside Lodge & Cabins, 11255 AZ-69, Mayer

12th Annual Hope Fest AZ – Prescott

  • Date and Time: September 14th; 10am-10pm
  • what: This free event will have resources for the community and provide a day of fun, community and connection.
  • where: Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza, 120 S. Cortez St., Prescott

Walking for Alzheimer's – Prescott Valley

  • Date and Time: September 28th; Registration at 8am; Ceremony at 9am; Walking begins afterwards
  • what: Support the cause of ending Alzheimer's and join us for this annual walk, which starts at the Civic Center and ends at Prescott Valley Town Center.
  • where: Prescott Valley Civic Center, 7501 E. Skoog Blvd, Prescott Valley

Green Yoga – Prescott Valley

  • Date and Time: September 21, 9AM
  • what: Come for a relaxing morning yoga session
  • where: Town Center Turf Park, 2980 N. Park Ave., Prescott Valley

Red Dirt Concert Series – Sedona

  • Date and Time: Every Friday in September from 5pm to 8pm
  • what: The live music lineup includes Sophia Rankin & The Sound and STEEN (September 6), Pastor John and Jonathan Kady (September 13), Charlie McNeil and Austin B. Sweeney (September 20) and The Originals and Rick Cucuzza (September 27).
