The comprehensive training will focus on the Genasys Protect Evacuation Platform recently acquired by several municipalities in Yavapai County, including the City of Prescott, City of Cottonwood, Town of Clarkdale, Town of Chino Valley, Town of Camp Verde, Town of Dewey-Humboldt, Town of Jerome and Town of Prescott Valley.

The City of Sedona uses the Interior Evacuation Zone product.

Yavapai County is seeking to become the first county in Arizona to establish jurisdictional evacuation zones.

The first day of training will focus on familiarizing participants with the Genasys Protect system, while the second day will feature a multi-agency exercise involving fire departments, police, dispatch centers, emergency management teams and other key agencies.

The training simulates a real emergency situation, with some participants operating from vehicles and communication via radio and telephone.

Yavapai County Emergency Management is pleased to partner with Genasys to provide this important training opportunity.

The event will provide local governments with an opportunity to learn more about evacuation platforms, as well as a chance to practice coordination and cooperation in a realistic situation.

“This countywide training will greatly improve our preparedness and response capabilities and ensure our teams are familiar with utilizing the Genasys platform,” said Emergency Manager Ashley Alquist.
