Yavapai County Office of Emergency Management is excited to announce that it is holding a free inperson class for community members! The course, “When a Disaster Is: Preparation, Action, Survival,” will be held at Prescott’s Emergency Operations Center on Tuesday, May 6th and Wednesday, May 7th, 2025. Classes consist of 8 hour one day on Tuesday and 4 hour day on Wednesday, and end with a certificate of completion.
This course is designed to teach and empower community members to prepare and respond to disasters.
Participants will learn how to take preservation measures, carry out light search and rescue operations to support family members and other community members shortly after natural or human-created incidents. Note that participants are not eligible to act as official emergency responders in this training.
Important topics include:
- Develop mindsets to prepare, act and survive during disasters.
- Use survival strategies to protect yourself, your family and pets during and after the event.
- We support search and light rescue operations, ensuring the care and safety of our neighbors.
