Yavapai County Sheriff Alerts Community About Registered Sex Offender Living in Mayer

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is required to share the following information as mandated by ARS 13-3825 concerning the Sex Offenders Act. The details pertain to offenders residing in a non-consolidated area of Yavapai County. It’s the responsibility of the local law enforcement to inform the community about certain offenders, particularly if they are released from Arizona State Jail or return to the community from county jail. Offenders are classified into three levels: Level 1 (low risk), Level 2 (medium risk), and Level 3 (high risk).

The individual mentioned in this notification is 40-year-old Laura Peters, who was convicted of a crime that necessitated community notification. She is currently residing at Mayer Hitching Post Way #2, Mayer 86333, Arizona.

Peters was convicted on March 31, 2014, for attempted sexual conduct with a minor in Yavapai County. At the time, she was 29 years old and received a sentence of 1.5 years with Arizona’s Department of Corrections, along with 20 years of probation. The victim, a nine-year-old boy, was known to her.

This notification isn’t meant to provoke fear; instead, the sheriff’s office believes that communities informed about such matters tend to be safer. It’s also important to note that using this information to threaten or harass sex offenders is unacceptable.

The YCSO would like to remind the public about the sex offender registration and notification programs available at www.ycsoaz.gov. This registry allows users to input a local address to see a list of registered sex offenders living within a mile radius. It also offers details about specific offenders. Furthermore, there’s a free email notification program that alerts subscribers about registered sex offenders in their area.
