Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Alerts Community About Sex Offender Living in Mayer

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Community Notification

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is required to provide important information regarding the Sex Offenders Act as per ARS 13-3825. This notice outlines offenders residing in an unincorporated area of Yavapai County. The responsibility lies with the Chief Law Enforcement Agency in the area to ensure the public is notified about sex offenders, particularly when they are released from Arizona State Jail or from county jail back to the community under an interstate compact. Offenders are categorized into three levels based on risk: Level 1 is considered low risk, Level 2 is intermediate risk, and Level 3 is high risk.

One such individual, Eric Edwards, 60 years old, has been convicted of a serious crime that warrants community notification. He has informed the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office of his residence at the intersection of Forest Road and Grape Vine Road, Mayer, AZ 86333.

Edwards has a past conviction from April 25, 2005, in Cochise County for attempted sexual conduct with a minor. He received a five-year sentence from the Arizona Department of Corrections due to an incident involving a six-year-old girl known to him.

Additionally, on December 22, 2022, in Yavapai County, he was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to two years by the Arizona Department of Corrections.

This notification is not intended to instill fear. Instead, the Sheriff’s Office believes that an informed community is a safer community. Misusing this information to threaten or harass any sex offender will not be tolerated.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office also wants to remind everyone about the sex offender registration and notification programs available on their website. This service allows community members to input a local address to view a list of registered sex offenders living within a one-mile radius. It also provides specific details about certain sex offenders registered in Yavapai County. Additionally, there’s a free email notification program available that alerts subscribers to registered sex offenders within a mile of their entered address.
