Yavapai County Supervisor Resigning, Board Seeking Applications

At the usual Yabapai County Board of Supervisors meeting on February 19, 2025, county manager Morley Thompson approved the official resignation of supervisor James Gregory, and then the supervisor of new district 2. The appointment process and schedule was presented.

Chairman Mallory expressed confidence in the board’s unified approach and said, “We are pleased to be able to unanimously approve what we believe will be a smooth and effective process,” he said. We would like to thank Vice-Chair Compton’s motion and Kukunio’s second superintendent for oversight. We look forward to reviewing all the applications of District 2’s superintendent positions.”

The Yabapai County Board of Supervisors is currently seeking an application on April 16, 2025 to be appointed to the Supervisors Board of Supervisors for District 2.

The appointed individual will serve until the individual elected in the next general election on November 3, 2026 becomes appointed. Individuals elected to fill in the rest of the period may begin their remaining term within 90 days of the election canvas.

Individuals seeking to complete the entire office period ending in December 2028 must run for elections in the 2026 primary and general elections.

To be considered for appointment, the candidate must:

  • Over 18 years old
  • Become a resident of Yabapai County
  • Become an elector in a county or precinct where office duties are exercised.
  • Registered to vote in Yabapai County
  • Makes you to read and write English

According to ARS 16-230, the Board of Supervisors shall appoint a person from the same political party as those who have vacated their offices to fill in the semester section until the next regular general election.

Director Gregory was a registered Republican.

Interested candidates must submit the following documents to the board’s clerk by the deadline: web@yavapaiaz.gov:

  • Letters of interest
  • resume
  • Completed Financial Disclosure Statement
  • Conflict of Interest Affidavit

All documents must be received by the Yabapai County Clerk of the Board of Supervisors by 5pm on Friday, March 7, 2025.

The Board of Supervisors may consider eligible applicants and appoint a replacement for the Yabapai County District 2 Board of Supervisors at a meeting scheduled regularly at 9am on April 16, 2025 .
