‘You’re A Huge Liar’: Bill Maher Pans Walz, Harris For ‘Insulting My Intelligence’ During CNN Interview

HBO host Bill Maher accused Vice President Kamala Harris and Democratic Gov. Tim Walz of insulting voters during an interview on Friday's episode of CNN's “Real Time with Bill Maher,” which aired Thursday night.

“I don't care, by the way,” Maher added. “I say this all the time about politics. They're all going to lie about politics. That's what they're going to lie about. I don't care what you did during the Iraq War. You were in the National Guard. I don't understand why they can't. You're just insulting my intelligence.”

Questions about Walz's 2005 retirement from the Minnesota National Guard surfaced after a 2018 Facebook post. post Walz's comments have drawn renewed attention following the selection of retired Army Sergeant Major Thomas Berens as Harris' running mate. Republican vice presidential candidate Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, who is also the running mate for the Republican Party, called Walz “disingenuous” in a video of Walz's comments at a campaign event in Wisconsin on August 7. Posts On August 6, the Harris-Waltz campaign called for a ban on so-called “assault weapons,” suggesting that he carries them in “war.”

Maher also took aim at Harris' reaction when she learned Biden was dropping out of the election, and her response when Bash asked her about her changing position on fracking.

“when [Bash] “What did you say when Biden called you and said he wasn't running? Um, well, I immediately thought of him first. No, I didn't,” Maher said of Harris' response. “I mean, fracking. I mean, Dana Bash said it absolutely right. I mean, you said, I have the quote, I'm reading it to you, you said fracking should be banned. Why can't they just say, 'Um, you know, I was wrong, uh, I was talking to the wrong people?'” (Related: 'I'm not afraid to say it': DNC volunteer says convention prompted them to dump Harris)

Maher then joked that Harris should explain the high staff turnover during her time as vice president by saying people were fired for giving her false information about fracking.
