Cuomo Critiques Political Left Amid Violence Debate
On Thursday, Chris Cuomo, host of News Nation, criticized the political left during “The Chris Cuomo Project.”
Following the assassination of Kirk on September 10th, many Democrats have condemned Republicans regarding the increasing political violence. The left has made provocative claims about which side is “more violent.”
Cuomo pointed out a troubling situation: “This argument about who is worse is absurd. You’re literally debating which side is more violent.” He noted a lack of statistical evidence supporting the idea that the left is more violent in politics.
He continued, questioning the rationale behind such claims: “Are you really arguing that this is okay? How foolish do you need to be? It’s not a matter of intelligence; it’s about convenience. You all crave clicks and relevance, saying anything for attention.”
Cuomo seemed to be addressing those on the left who referenced the Anti-Defamation League’s reports, which have connected right-wing extremists to a majority of extremist-related murders.
The assassination suspect, Tyler Robinson, has ties to an individual named Lance Twiggs. Robinson’s parents mentioned to authorities that their son has become “more gay and right-oriented” over time, as stated by Utah County Attorney Jeffrey Gray on September 16th.
Robinson reportedly expressed feelings of being overwhelmed by Kirk’s animosity, even texting Twiggs about his intentions. He wrote, “You’re all I’m worried about, love,” indicating a concerning mindset.
Facing serious charges, Robinson is up against aggravated murder, firearm-related injuries, obstruction of justice, and more. Gray stated that Robinson targeted TPUSA founders based on “political expressions,” a factor that could lead to higher penalties.
Interestingly, a recent piece from The Atlantic corroborated that left-wing violence has surged since Donald Trump entered the political landscape in 2016.
This outlet compiled data on 750 incidents of political violence from January 1, 1994, to July 4, 2025, revealing that left-wing terrorist attacks have now surpassed those from the political right.
