YUHSD to host sports physical event, YRMC announced as partner

YUMA, AZ (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD), in partnership with the Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC), will host a free sporting event.

The event will be held on May 16 at Yuma High School’s Palace Gymnasium, according to a press release. This event is open to all his YUHSD student-athletes.

YUHSD also said the doors will open at 4pm and Dr. Ryan Zerr and his colleagues will offer exams from 4:30pm to 7pm. According to YUHSD, parents and guardians are required to attend.

“The YUHSD and YRMC partnership will provide student-athletes with free sports physicals and a safe way to participate,” said Shannon Carmody, YUHSD Athletic Trainer.

“It’s a great resource for families to use if they have students interested in participating in sports throughout the 2023-24 school year. .”

To elaborate further, physical examination is required for student-athletes to participate in Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) competition. YUHSD further stated that the 2023-24 school year student-athletes will be included in all completed physical examinations.
