YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – It's that time of year again when Desert Sun Stadium will be filled with locals honoring cancer survivors and remembering those whose lives have been taken by the disease.
Yuma County's 28th annual Relay for Life will be held Saturday, March 16th.
Community members take turns walking down a path lined with glow-in-the-dark bags to honour those affected by cancer.
You'll also have the opportunity to cheer on local survivors or join in as a survivor on the first lap of the day.
“We want to make sure we're improving the lives of cancer patients and supporting their families,” said Amber Thornton, event leader for this year's Relay for Life.[Relay for Life] Remember the survivors. Remember the people who have died. Honor the journey they've had. Honor the lives they've lived. Fight cancer.”
The opening ceremony will take place from 11am to 11pm.
