Yuma County Sheriff’s Office identifies a man found destroying campaign signs

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) has now identified and cited the man who was seen vandalizing campaign signs.

Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, deputies said they received multiple reports of a person vandalizing campaign signs near the corner of Foothills Boulevard and East Fourth Street. They describe what people saw.

“Witnesses reported seeing the suspect run over the signs with his car, kick the signs, and even use a machete-like object to damage the signs.” said YCSO Public Affairs Specialist Tania Pavrak.

A local resident shared his thoughts on what he heard about the incident.

“Oh, that’s crazy. Whether he does it or not, we’re all going to put up signs. We’re just going to put it back together,” local Rhonda Carlson said.

Deputies have now identified, identified and named a suspect. They are asking the community to report any damaged or stolen political signs.

Damaging, removing or defacing campaign signage is a Class 2 misdemeanor. Penalties may include up to four months in prison, a fine of up to $750, and community service or probation.
