The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man who was allegedly seen vandalizing political signs in the Foothills area.
YCSO officials said they received multiple reports of a man vandalizing campaign signs in the area of East 40th Street and South Foothills Boulevard this Wednesday.
Witnesses told police the man had run over the sign with his car, kicked the sign away and used a machete to damage it, officials said. Officers arrived at the scene and searched the area, but did not find the man or the vehicle.
YCSO is asking the public to help identify the vehicles and suspects in the photos and to report any damaged or stolen political signs to local law enforcement.
They remind the public that it is a second-degree misdemeanor to knowingly remove, alter, deface, or conceal a political sign of a candidate for public office without permission. In certain circumstances, additional charges for trespass, theft, and/or criminal damage may also apply.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to anonymously contact the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office at 928-783-4427 or 78-CRIME.
